Class Descriptions

Creative Movement:

The emphasis in this class is on the youngest dancers (ages 3-5) whose love for movement may just be budding. There are plenty of props and fun dance games to explore in this class to get your child started on technique and style of Ballet, Jazz Dance and Hip Hop.

Gentle Hatha Yoga:

This is a class for both new and continuing yoga students. We will focus on flexibility, breath, balance and incorporate postures that allow us to stretch and fully use our bodies in a supportive atmosphere with individually modified poses.  This gentle and slower paced approach make it more accessible to people of all sizes, ages, and fitness levels.  It is non-competitive and most positions are easily modified to fit the individual needs of the practitioner.

Yoga has been around for over 5,000 years and has proven itself to be a valuable complimentary approach to healing and nurturing the mind, body and spirit. Our style of yoga is not about twisting yourself into a pretzel; it is about gentle, slow moving postures that bring health, enjoyment, and well being into your life.

Hatha Bounce:

This class is the icing on the cake - a great way to reduce stress and top off your hectic week.  We will incorporate Hatha flow yoga and the use of an exercise ball to workout, strengthen, stretch and relax the brain and body muscles. You will feel worked out without the workout!  This workout is great for the beginner as well as the seasoned fitness buff.

Hatha Flow:

Hatha Flow links the postures practiced in a regular Hatha class into a sequence of movements that "flow" with the breath in a more vigorous series. Hatha Flow involves moving from one posture to another with very little rest in between and creates a strong cardiovascular workout.

Variations on the Sun Salutation are often used as a warm-up, followed by a standing sequence, balancing poses, and then seated poses. As in all Hatha classes, relaxation (Savasana) ends the class. Hatha Flow is open for beginners and continuing students interested in exploring a more movement-oriented class.  Hatha Flow builds strength, endurance, and a strong focus. The classroom is not heated, but the physical practice will naturally build heat in the body.  This practice is joyful, therapeutic, and inspiring.

Daycare is now available for Monday & Wendesday 9:00 a.m. class.

Hatha Yoga:

Hatha yoga is a class for both beginning and continuing students.   This class will open your heart, improve your circulation, elongate your muscles and settle your mind.  The class is designed to increase flexibility, strength, circulation and relaxation, through breathing exercises, sun salutations, inversions, and standing poses, creating an overall feeling of well-being and body-awareness.  Find out how this small investment of time can make HUGE changes in how you feel and how your body looks.

Hip Hop/ Production Dance

A mix of two fun dance styles - Hip Hop and Production Dance.  Hip Hop is a fun style of dance preformed by many pop stars. The sharp, calculated movements of Hip Hop are as fun to watch as they are to do. In Hip Hop, your child will learn agility, a variety of rhythms, and how to count the beats in each song. By mixing in Production Dance with its Broadway flair, adding props and dramatic dance, this class will definitely be a huge hit for any child wanting to learn a variety of dance styles. Two classes are available by the following age groups: 6-9 year olds and 10+ year olds.

Kick Boxing:

This class is mainly for teenagers and adults. It is aimed at getting people into shape regardless of their current form. The work-outs are designed to target the cardio vascular system, Physical conditioning and strengthening, muscle toning, balance and coordination. It involves a lot of hand and foot combinations for the cardio, and a variety of conditioning, strengthening, and toning exercises.

Classes are run in a very friendly and patient manner to ensure that nobody is left behind. Members are encouraged to start at their own pace and increase their intensity as time progresses. They are also advised to set realistic goals and not to expect results within a short time.

NOTE: To keep our work-out area clean and free from outside debris, members are required to have a clean pair of tennis shoes specifically for this class (not to be worn outside).

Strength Training Yoga:

This class will be a new experience every time you come. We will incorporate yoga flow, cardio, stretching, hand weights, resistance, and pump repetition to sculpt, tone, and strengthen your muscles. All ages, body types, and fitness levels will get a challenging whole body workout while having fun and relieving stress.

Tae Kwon Do:

This is a Korean style of Martial Arts. It comprises both self-defense and sport. Tae Kwon Do is known for its devastating kicks, and also as an Olympic Sport. Students do a lot of kicking drills to strengthen their legs and develop a lot of kicking power. In this class, students are also taught hand techniques (strikes and blocks), basic take-downs, joint-locks and basic grappling. They also learn Traditional Empty Hand and Weapons Forms (Kata) and Philosophy of the Martial Arts (self-defense, self-discipline, self control, respect, physical and mental toughness).  This class is done without shoes, but Tae Kwon Do uniforms (with Wambua's Logo) are required
