Gentle Hatha Yoga:

This is a class for both new and continuing yoga students. We will focus on flexibility, breath, balance and incorporate postures that allow us to stretch and fully use our bodies in a supportive atmosphere with individually modified poses.  This gentle and slower paced approach make it more accessible to people of all sizes, ages, and fitness levels.  It is non-competitive and most positions are easily modified to fit the individual needs of the practitioner.

Yoga has been around for over 5,000 years and has proven itself to be a valuable complimentary approach to healing and nurturing the mind, body and spirit. Our style of yoga is not about twisting yourself into a pretzel; it is about gentle, slow moving postures that bring health, enjoyment, and well being into your life.

Grandmaster Han's Martial Arts:

Grandmaster  Man Hee Han is the founder of this martial arts system.  From age 5 to age 95, anyone can train in the Youn Wha Ryu system. We offer traditional martial arts, at an affordable price, with a modern approach to fitness and training methods. Two classes will be offered.  The first 30 minute class is for younger students who need a shorter class and fewer moves per class.  This first 30 minute class can also be used by the Beginner students to allow extra warm-up/practice time before the 5:45PM class.

Our system incorporates elements from: Tae Kwon Do, Karate, Hapkido, Kung Fu, Jiu Jitsu, Tai Chi and also trains in many weapons (this would be a separate workshop for more advanced students).  Whether for fitness, fun or self defense you will find Youn Wha Ryu to be a challenging and rewarding experience!

Hatha Bounce:

A refreshingly unique program designed to clear your mind after a stressful week or energize your weekend, using Hatha flow yoga and the exercise ball. This class will teach you to relieve tight muscles with breath and movement, strengthen your core with balancing poses, and calm your thoughts by holding a variety of poses.  During the entire class, you will also work to relieve the hips and lower back, guaranteeing that your new week starts with a relaxed spirit. This is a class for all generations!

Hatha Flow Yoga:

Hatha Flow links the postures practiced in a regular Hatha class into a sequence of movements that "flow" with the breath in a more vigorous series. Hatha Flow involves moving from one posture to another with very little rest in between and creates a strong cardiovascular workout.

Variations on the Sun Salutation are often used as a warm-up, followed by a standing sequence, balancing poses, and then seated poses. As in all Hatha classes, relaxation (Savasana) ends the class. Hatha Flow is open for beginners and continuing students interested in exploring a more movement-oriented class.  Hatha Flow builds strength, endurance, and a strong focus. The classroom is not heated, but the physical practice will naturally build heat in the body.  This practice is joyful, therapeutic, and inspiring.

Daycare is available.

Strength Training & Toning:

Strength training programs do much more than just tone and tighten all muscle groups.  They also help you burn fat more efficiently and improve your bone density. During your weight or strength training routine, you’ll not only burn 400 – 600 calories, but also maintain a significant metabolism boost throughout the day.

Free weights are utilized to provide maximum range of motion and correct technique.  (You can bring your own or use what we have available.)  Each muscle group is subjected to high-repetition intervals providing a full-body workout.  Additionally, we will move quickly from one exercise to the next as we work through all the major muscle groups to keep our heart rate elevated.

This class will give you the strength you need to excel at sports, get more out of recreational activities, reduce injuries to your back and joints, and maintain stamina and strength during your daily life.  You’ll build muscles you never even knew you had, while developing core strength that will support you in a wide variety of activities.

Strength training programs are suitable for all levels of fitness and exercise experience.

Tai Chi:

Tai Chi is an effective and safe exercise program based on a form of Sun Style Tai Chi specially designed by Dr. Paul  Lam for the Arthritis Foundation.  It is easy to learn, improves flexibility and muscle strength, increases heart and lung activity, aligns posture, improves balance and integrates the mind and body.  Some other health benefits include reduced pain and stiffness from arthritis, improved balance and concentration, reduced sinus congestion and asthma, reduced headaches and constipation, improved memory, and improved ability to cope with stress.

This beginning level, hour-long class focuses on a series of warm-up exercises, the first 12 movements of Sun Style Tai Chi for Arthritis, and cool-down exercises.  (Chairs are available if needed.)  Once you learn Tai Chi, you can practice anytime, anywhere.  The more you practice, the better you’ll feel!

Zumba:

ZUMBA is a Latin-inspired, dance-fitness class that incorporates Latin and international music and dance movements, creating a dynamic, exciting, exhilarating, and effective fitness system. A ZUMBA class - known as a ZUMBA Fitness-Party – combines fast and slow rhythms that tone and sculpt the body using an aerobic/fitness approach to achieve a unique blended balance of cardio and muscle-toning benefits. The ZUMBA program is “exercise in disguise!"
